From Rochester Democrat and Chronicle 02/15/12:
BROCKPORT — As a family doctor, Dr. David Newman said he delivered 300 babies at Lakeside Memorial Hospital and assisted in many surgeries. He followed his patients who were in the hospital. Thursday morning, he was part of the leadership of Lakeside Health System that announced the Brockport hospital would be closing its emergency department, shutting down its 61 inpatient beds and restructuring as an outpatient and diagnostic care center.
Editor's note: It's the end of an era. It was bound to happen sooner or later with the changing health care delivery system. PR and spin isn't the same as good management and Brockporters have been bamboozled with fund raising stunts like bringing in former presidents to the Lakeside gala balls which, of course, has nothing to do with practicing good medicine.
