According to an article in the September 1, 2013 issue of the Suburban News written by Kristina Gabalski and entitled "Use Of Herbicide Along Canal Causes Some Concerns" people pets have been getting "temporary gastrointestinal irritation" from running though and possibly ingesting some of the sprayed vegetation.
According to Shane Mahar the NYS Thruway/NYS Canal Corporation Deputy Director for Media Relations, the spraying of the Brockport section of the canal was completed on June 19, 2013.
