The Brockport Unitarian Universalist Fellowship monthly book group, which is open to the public, will be meeting next Tuesday (Sept. 10th) at 6 p.m. at 58 North Main for supper and a discussion about John Wood's book "Creating Room to Read: A Story of Hope in the Battle for Global Literacy."
We will then go the SUNY Brockport SERC to attend the reading by the author who will be speaking at the College at 7:30 that evening as part of the Freshman Summer Reading Program.
John Woods left a lucrative career at Microsoft to found the nonprofit organization Room to Read. This book shares the challenges, such as raising money in a collapsing economy, as well as the moving stories of the children in Africa and Asia whose educations would otherwise have been sacrificed to war or natural disaster.
